About the Beyond Borders Early Interventionist Position

This position requires experience working with young children and their families within a “home” setting. Specifically in Moria Camp, interventionist needs to provide 45-minute sessions three times per week to single mom family groups. A deep knowledge of child development and learning through play is essential. Extreme flexibility is crucial as new families arrive and depart often. Ability to include older siblings and other adult members is also important. A very friendly open disposition to maintain positive relationships with families and Eurorelief supervisors in the camp.

Schedule should ensure that each family group is seen twice per week (two 45 minute sessions per week). Usually day begins at 9:30 and ends at about 2. Again extreme flexibility is needed to allow for changes in general camp scheduling.

Responsibilities and Duties include:
• Maintain a consistent schedule of activities within each family setting
• Implement and adjust learning activities to meet the unique needs of each family
• Choose toys, puzzles, other materials that remain varied and appropriate for each family

Position Start: ongoing

About Beyond Borders Lesvos Educational Project

Stranded on the island of Lesvos while papers are processed, asylum seekers live in a state of perpetual instability and crisis. For many families this means the continued, critical loss of education for their children.

On Lesvos we respond to this need by providing safe learning spaces where refugee children and adults come to build relationships with caring teachers and engage their minds to “learn to heal” and “heal to learn”. Our programs focus on preparing children to enter school. We explore numeracy, literacy, English language, art, music, and movement, providing a space where healing and learning are sacred and championed. We also partner with NGOs to provide English language programs for adult learners.

We greatly value persons with a heart to serve refugees and experience in ESL, adult education, early childhood education, elementary education, counselling/member care, and administration. We seek team players with a pioneer spirit, incredible flexibility, and initiative.

Beyond Borders Lesvos will develop and implement educational, play-based, hands-on and therapeutically-informed learning and recreational programming to children and youth on Lesvos.

We seek to provide for the overall well-being of refugee children and youth by attending to their psychological, social, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.

We greatly value persons with a heart to serve refugees and experience in education, counselling, youth work, administration, development. We are looking for people with a pioneer spirit, incredible flexibility, and initiative.
