About the Head of School Position

Roy and Dora Whitman Academy is seeking a new Head of School starting with the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal leader will have a proven track record of leading a school in an international setting, and will be able to navigate the nuances of supervising a multinational staff and student body. The candidate will understand school budgeting and how to marshal limited financial resources effectively to maintain and grow our program of academic excellence. Additionally, the leader will place a priority on building healthy, productive, and authentic relationships with all stakeholders in the community, particularly as we enter a new phase in our existence as the school plans its move to a new, larger campus starting in the 2021-2022 school year. The Head of School reports directly to the Whitman school board.

Position Start: July 1, 2021

About Roy & Dora Whitman Academy

Starting as a homeschool coop in 1994, Roy & Dora Whitman Academy has grown to 185 students in grades 1-12. Whitman Academy is accredited by the largest international accrediting organization, Cognia (formerly AdvancED). We serve families from more than 20 countries; all of our students are required to hold a non-Jordanian passport. Our mission is to provide a high-quality Christian education in English to Third Culture Kids, whose parents work in roles that advance God’s Kingdom in Jordan. The school teaches all subjects throughout the grade levels from a Biblical worldview. We commit to quality instruction, maximized through low student/teacher ratios, stimulating classroom environments, and teaching methods appropriate to the students’ learning styles and needs. We strive to build growing and maturing disciples of Christ who are equipped to be servant leaders in their school and community. Other Benefits the School Offers:

The school provides subsidized housing for single teachers, and provides a residency visa for foreign teachers. Full-time staff with children at the school receive substantial tuition discounts. The school also provides group Arabic lessons for those who are interested.
